This allows them to offer a range of career development opportunities to their staff, who can gain a wide range and depth of experience and training.

They are recruiting:

A Trainee High Intensity Cognitive Behaviour Therapist. The training post is for 1 year which includes two days per week at Teesside University and 3 days of supervised clinical practice. The University training course will commence on 13th January 2020.

The successful applicant will be required to have a core profession relating to mental health such as mental health nurse, qualified counsellor, clinical psychologist, social work etc., or will go through the KSA route which stands for Knowledge, Skills and Attitude (which is equivalent to having a core profession). A portfolio is completed to evidence the meeting of 13 key criteria. To be considered for the programme this needs to be presented at interview with evidence that each criterion can be met. This is outlined in more detail on the BABCP website. This is a substantial task that should be explored well before application.

They are also recruiting a Low Intensity Cognitive Behaviour Therapist. Again this is a one year post. This would be suitable for potential applicants who do not have a core profession, and would not meet KSA, would be to consider applying for Low Intensity CBT training as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner. The successful applicant will work in practice whilst studying for a PG Cert in Psychological Interventions. For this course the university course commences in the second week of January 2020. Whilst this post requires less clinical experience at entry it could provide the relevant experience to access a High Intensity CBT training course once after 2 years post qualification in post.

An essential part of both roles will be good communication skills particularly with someone in distress. It is useful although not essential to have knowledge of the IAPTus system or be willing to undertake training in this area.

Successful candidates will have strong communication and time management skills and respect individual rights to confidentiality.

Application closing date is 22nd November 2019.
The turnaround will be swift as interviews will follow on 9th December.

The interview process may be in 2 stages, as there will be an interview followed by an academic screening exercise for the University course.

Candidates will also be asked to apply to Teesside University. A training place can be offered only if you have successfully completed both the interview and the screening exercise.

Upon successful completion of the training course, there is a possibility that there will be permanent posts available on qualification.
