About us
St Giles Hospice is a local charity serving the community through its delivery of high-quality palliative care and bereavement service. Employing 400 staff and 1300 volunteers, they have an income of £13.4 million making them one of the largest charities in the region. The majority of care is funded through the generosity of local people, via fundraising, the hospice's network of shops across the region, and lottery activities. The NHS contributes circa 34% of the overall cost of St Giles Hospice services. As demand for services increases and income remains static, the hospice continues to look at innovative ways of income growth and in its delivery of high quality care.
About the role
They seek a business/commercial professional to become a trustee and to play a key role in the organisation's future by joining the St Giles Hospice Board.
The role is available after the retirement of a longstanding trustee and following a comprehensive skills audit evaluating the skills and expertise matched against the five-year strategy.
Essential criteria:
- Currently working within the business and commercial sector in or around Birmingham, Staffordshire or Derbyshire as it is essential that you have close ties to the local community
- Significant leadership expertise, ideally having operated as a chief executive or equivalent
- Ability to analyse risks and opportunities, and take a balanced approach to both
- Have expertise in areas such as financial management, business planning or risk management
About you
You will be naturally collaborative and passionate about the healthcare agenda and the essential work that St Giles Hospice deliver to the community. You will be joining a progressive, high achieving and forward-thinking board who look to innovate and challenge to ensure ever increasing training and standards across the organisation.
For further information or a confidential conversation, please contact our retained consultant Will Worthington.
