Head of Implementation

Circa £45,000 per annum

Loughborough

A strategic visionary thinker, you are an experienced manager skilled at leading, motivating and developing teams to be their best. You are now looking for a high-profile role which will make the most of your talents and enable you to deliver significant impact. Head of Implementation is that role – a key position in the organisation where you will have responsibility for developing and embedding the approach to implementation of Youth Sport Trust’s programmes from design to delivery.

We are an independent charity devoted to changing young people’s lives through sport. We aim to pioneer innovative ways to engage and motivate young people to participate in sport, and for them to realise the positive impact it can have on their lives.

Managing a team of Development Managers, you will support the planning and successful delivery of programmes under their leadership, providing vision and developmental thinking to the systems and processes used to implement programmes nationally and locally. You will drive an effective approach to school recruitment to ensure our programmes have maximum reach and impact for partners and beneficiaries, as well as leading the design and delivery of a programme of training to key networks including School Games Organisers and FA Girls Football Partnerships that will ensure successful local delivery of national programmes. You will also ensure the quality of learning delivered through the different strands of the YST Learning Academy (Tutors, Athlete Mentors, Development Coaches, Authors and Team Leaders) is of an exceptional standard enhancing YST’s reputation.

Comfortable developing strategy and/or policy that delivers measurable results, you will be skilled at managing teams and people to reach their maximum potential. With an excellent understanding of operational and project planning protocols and knowledge of how to monitor and evaluate the impact of projects using focussed and extensive reach, you will already have worked in an environment of continuous quality improvement and have designed and delivered robust systems to support review and improvement processes. An effective communicator, you will be skilled at influencing a range of audiences and building strong relationships with stakeholders. You will also be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of the schools, sports development and education landscape.

In return you will get to join a dynamic and energetic charity passionate about improving young people’s lives where all staff are given the opportunity to engage in the leadership and direction of the organisation. Our values of trust, responsibility, integrity and partnership working underpin everything we do and we pride ourselves on a work culture which fosters innovation, creativity and personal passion.  All staff are encouraged to engage in physical activity with opportunities put on every lunchtime and free yoga sessions. Benefits include generous annual leave entitlement, health cash plan, employee assistance programme and volunteering days. In 2018 we were ranked one of the best places to work in the UK by the Sunday Times Top 100 Not for Profit Companies to Work For list.

If you have the skills to support our work and share our passionate belief in the benefits of sport for young people, we would love to hear from you.

Company

The Youth Sport Trust is a registered charity, established in 1994.

Our mission is to build a brighter future for young people by enhancing the quality of their physical education (PE) and sporting opportunities.

  • We want to increase young people’s participation and enjoyment of PE and school sport.
  • We want young people to have the chance to experience and enjoy different types of activity at whatever level is right for them.
  • We want to ensure youngsters receive the best teaching, coaching and resources possible and have the chance to progress if they show talent.
  • We want to help our young people to live healthy and active lives and to be the best they can be.

How we achieve our aims

Our objectives are achieved through the educational sporting programmes that we produce. These are delivered through schools and are supported by a range of corporate partners, trusts and foundations and government departments.

Another important area of work is our support of Specialist Sports Colleges. These designated sports-focused schools are at the hub of the government’s strategy to enhance young people’s opportunities to participate in a wide range of sports. They also raise the standards of teaching and learning in PE and school sport, and across the curriculum. To assist Sports Colleges in the achievement of these aims, we provide them with a framework of support and resources.
