We are changing the landscape of services for people in our community. Join part of a team making a real difference to people living on the Hoo Peninsula and reducing social isolation and loneliness in the community.

ABOUT WHOO CARES:

Hoo Peninsula Cares CIC (wHoo Cares) is a community based organisation with the vision to address social isolation and improve the health and well-being of vulnerable people of all ages. We empower them to shape and manage their own support whilst utilising the abilities, skills and expertise of local people through our volunteer programme. wHoo Cares supports individuals on the Hoo Peninsula (ME3 postcode). We have been successful with a three-year grant from The National Lottery Community Fund to expand our team, which includes this new post.

THE ROLE:

We're looking for a motivate and experienced Community Engagement Officer to raise the profile and awareness of wHoo Cares as well as increasing our capacity to work with a range of organisations – building on established relationships and developing relationships and partnerships which have not yet been developed. A desire to make a real difference in the local community is a must.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement wHoo Cares’ community engagement strategy, including this role.

  • Raise the profile and awareness of wHoo Cares locally, on the peninsula, with residents, community groups and businesses.

  • Further expand on existing relationships with key stakeholders including other voluntary organisations, schools and universities.

  • Develop relationships with a range of organisations which, so far, we have been unable to reach (due to time pressures), including Kent and Medway NHS Trust and Social Care Partnership.

  • Raise the profile of our work with potential corporate partners throughout the peninsula, Medway and Kent.

  • Network with numerous community organisations including attending partnership meetings.

  • Arrange various fundraising activities and events (small and large) throughout the year engaging with the whole population of the peninsula..

  • Further develop a legacy programme through networking with local solicitors and funeral directors

  • Work with local residents and communities to identify and develop activities, projects or services for the benefit of local residents, our Partners and volunteers. Work with the Manager to identify and apply for funding to support these projects.

You will be part of a small, yet innovative team, making real, positive changes in peoples lives on the Hoo Peninsula.
