Head of Fundraising and Supporter Engagement

Job Overview

The Head of Fundraising and Supporter Engagement will lead a small team in the development and implementation of a coordinated and effective supporter engagement strategy to grow our income and support across a diverse range of audiences who support us in giving and praying.

Our Organisation

Lifewords is a charitable Christian organisation based in London Waterloo with a rich 131-year heritage and an exciting future. We work internationally with seven overseas hubs and numerous partners. We are all about Bible resources and programmes that create ways in to the Bible for people across a diversity of cultures and contexts.

We create Bible resources, programmes and projects to bring God’s hope and love to people everywhere. Our resources are in action with people living on the world’s streets, in orphanages, with young people, those facing life challenges, women caught in sexual exploitation; in prisons, hospitals, schools and churches; in arts, media and culture, and much more.

Job Purpose

Owing to a senior staff member retirement, we are looking for an experienced fundraising professional to shape, lead, and implement a comprehensive fundraising and supporter engagement strategy; to initiate, grow, and sustain voluntary income streams; to increase the involvement and value of existing supporters; and garner new avenues of support.

Bringing experience of at least two of our major income streams; individuals, churches, legacies and trusts/institutional funders, you will help develop an ongoing fundraising strategy across all our platforms. This is a role with scope for development. We are a small and creative organisation with a long history of support.

You will join our UK Management Team where your fundraising and supporter engagement expertise will contribute to the management of the organisation. You will have line management responsibilities for a small team, and will work closely and collaboratively with other colleagues

Our Offer

  • This is a full-time role primarily working with our team at our offices in Waterloo, central London
  • Permanent contract (subject to six months’ probation)
  • 23 days paid annual leave (plus Bank Holidays and the office closure between Christmas and New Year)
  • Salary: c.£45,000 pa plus 10% contribution to pension and life assurance cover
