This is an incredible, rare opportunity in fundraising to work alongside and support an ambitious, innovative and collaborative CEO. Whilst fundraising skills would be welcome, more important is that you are quick thinking, highly organised, a great relationship builder and with consummate written skills. This really is a gem of an opportunity for an experienced fundraiser or someone new to the sector, with so much scope to learn and to develop.

An exciting new role at the Bromley by Bow Centre, the purpose of the job is to help build strong strategic partnerships with corporate businesses, philanthropists and individual supporters and donors. You will work with Rob Trimble, the organisation’s Chief Executive, and ensure the Bromley by Bow Centre provides high quality engagement with these friends, stakeholders and partners.

The focus of the role is on helping to develop strategic engagement plans and ensuring that appropriate processes and systems are in place to manage key contacts efficiently and effectively. Much of the work is focused on co-ordinating strategic partnerships for the Chief Executive, identifying and researching potential connections, collating background information and ensuring that action plans are in place and being implemented. Essentially the post holder will ensure the whole strategic engagement machine is operating effectively.

As part of the role, the Partnership Coordinator will be responsible for managing and coordinating events associated with unrestricted fundraising, such as partner dinners and receptions. There will also be a strong connection with the charity’s communications function which also reports directly to the Chief Executive. You will be operating at a strategic level within the organisation.

The Bromley by Bow Centre is a vibrant community charity in the heart of East London. It has a national and international reputation for its highly innovative approach which inspires and empowers local people to transform their lives. The Centre delivers an incredible range of projects based on a unique model that combines social entrepreneurship, the arts, learning, social support, horticulture and holistic and integrated health programmes.

The charity supports families, young people and adults of all ages to learn new skills, improve their health and wellbeing, find employment and develop the confidence needed to achieve things they could never have dreamed of.

We work with the most vulnerable people in our community, those who are isolated, facing physical or mental ill health or who are lacking confidence, skills or qualifications. The Centre operates in an area with deep-seated economic and social challenges. This includes having a very high level of child poverty, the worst acute mental health admission rate in London and the second lowest employment rate in the capital.

The skills and experience we need are:

  • empathy with the mission of the Bromley by Bow Centre

  • excellent organisational, planning and prioritisation skills

  • self-motivated and with a really positive attitude towards work

  • first-rate accuracy and attention to detail

  • strong interpersonal skills with a positive and engaging working style

  • an open, receptive, tactful approach, with sensitivity to confidentiality issues

  • excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office packages and social media

  • excellent communication skills, both written and spoken English

  • strong project management skills

  • ability to undertake research across a broad range of themes including policy areas

  • ability to prepare high quality presentations and reports and write reflectively

  • ability to work as part of a team

  • experience and understanding of working in a diverse setting

  • ability to work at speed and to deadlines
