Job Details
The Henry Smith Charity is one of the largest grant making foundations in the UK, distributing over £30m of grants each year. It aims to bring about lasting change to people's lives, helping them to benefit from and contribute to society, and achieves this by funding organisations that work with people to reduce social and economic disadvantage.
We are delighted to be recruiting for a Learning and Evaluation Manager to support the development and delivery of the charity's research function with a view to applying this learning to improve the effectiveness and impact of the charity's grant making. You will lead on the use of grant making data to generate insight into the effectiveness of the main grants programme. Your work will ensure that this learning, evidence and knowledge of best practice is used both to drive better decision making and also to inform wider policy and strategy.
The successful candidate will be an analytical and creative problem solver with a keen eye for detail and real empathy with the voluntary sector, and will demonstrate a keenness to learn. You will have a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, ideally with a strong research focus, as well as the ability to communicate complex topics to a variety of stakeholders. Previous experience of planning, designing and implementing research using both qualitative and quantitative analysis and then applying this to practical and policy settings is essential.
This role represents an excellent opportunity to drive and support a leading grant maker to make better informed and more effective grants, in order to understand its effectiveness and ensure its work has the greatest possible positive social impact.
Ideal Start Date: Jan 2020
