The SCI Foundation is an international development organization recommended by the global evaluator’s GiveWell as a top charity.  Founded in 2002 by one of the first grants made by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, we were based at the School of Public Health at St Mary’s Hospital Paddington until August this year, when we became a stand-alone entity. Building on our 17 year experience of delivering life changing treatments against preventable tropical diseases to populations primarily in sub Saharan Africa we are aiming to broaden our strategy and work in partnership with other sectors outside health such as water and sanitation and veterinary public health, to accelerate disease control and strengthen health systems to have sustained impact.

In 2010 we have received funding from the UK Department of International Development which has been extended until 2022. We have also been rated as one of the most impactful global charities by Givewell.org for the last 8 years. We have an annual turnover of approximately 10 million GBP with considerable reserves.
