Job Details

Harris Hill is proud to be partnering with Gingerbread in its search for a new Head of Policy and Research.

As a member of Gingerbread's newly redefined Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the Head of Policy and Research will lead its impactful work to change policy and practice through evidence-based, solution-focused research and influencing activity. At this transformational time for Gingerbread, you'll have a wide variety of responsibilities across strategy, policy development, stakeholder influencing, research projects and team management.

For example, one day you may find yourself developing Gingerbread's strong government relationships to deliver evidence-based policy change to ensure childcare rights for single-parent families; and other days you may find yourself manging the Policy and Research Team to deliver a solutions-focused research project on employment and skills.

As such, Gingerbread are looking for a creative policy and research professional, ideally with a background under the banner of social welfare issues, or at least with an understanding of their key policy areas e.g. childcare, poverty, employment and skills. As this position will be Gingerbread's organisational lead for policy and research, as well as a member of the SLT, the postholder will need to demonstrate autonomy, independence and confidence, as well as a collegiate approach to organisational strategy and management.

Gingerbread is a flexible and progressive employer with equality, diversity and inclusion at their heart, and understand the need for staff to balance personal commitments and family life with work. They are proud of their range of policies to support staff, including flexible working hours and working from home, and 4 days per week / compressed hours will be considered alongside a full-time (35 hours per week) role.

This is a leadership position paying 47,000 - 52,000 p.a. A shortlist of applicants will be submitted on Monday 28th October; in order to ensure a fair, equal and thorough vetting process, initial enquiries by Friday 25th October are encouraged. The application process will involve an application form, which will be available to applicants after an initial informal phone call / face-to-face meeting with the appointment's lead consultant, Harry Marven. If you are interested in applying for this position, please send an expression of interest to harry.marven@harrishill.co.uk to get the ball rolling.
