Transform our organisation, so we can transform the voluntary sector in Merton.

Merton Voluntary Service Council’s mission is to support, enable and champion the voluntary, community and faith sectors in Merton. Delivering capacity building, training, financial management and assistance with good governance, we help the third sector recruit volunteers, win hearts and minds, and above all make things happen to transform the lives of the borough’s 211,000 people.

With a new strategy and a more focused direction, this is an exciting time in our development and your strategic and hands-on leadership will take us to the next level. Building on close links with a national network of Councils for Voluntary Service (CVS), you will inspire every member of our team to realise their full potential. In particular, you will actively translate our strategy into deliverables, develop visionary business plans and advise the Chair and Trustee Board on all aspects of organisational development, whilst acting as an ambassador to public, voluntary and private sector bodies.

What’s more, you will oversee all aspects of our finances, including income generation and statutory reporting, so we require an ambitious professional with exceptional commercial acumen. A seasoned senior manager, preferably within the voluntary or community sector, you will be adept at motivating substantial teams of staff and volunteers and skilled in writing successful strategies and funding applications. Naturally, you should bring a comprehensive understanding of the voluntary sector and its policy and funding environment, and you will be an outstanding relationship builder and negotiator. Most importantly, you will share our passion for transforming outcomes and futures and will be ready to do whatever it takes to make this happen.
