Employability Development Manager

Luton and South Bedfordshire

£36,500 to £40,000 per annum

37 hours per week – agile working / flexible working pattern

Our client prides themselves on being more than a great place to work, where everyone feels fairly treated and enjoys their work in a welcoming and friendly environment. They’re a not-for-profit housing association that has been providing affordable housing in Luton and South Bedfordshire since 1962. Their services don’t stop there. Their mission is “HOMES SUPPORT OPPORTUNITY” - as well as providing housing for their customers they firmly believe in proactively supporting them to improve their lives. They see their tenants and residents (their customers) as individuals who have choices, although at the time they come to them they may not be aware of that. They promote a coaching culture, empowering individuals to make choices about their lives on their journey to improve their day to day and future lives.

They refuse to stand still and their ambition coupled with a compelling strategy is part of the momentum that carries them forward. Their 5-year vision to 2025 focuses on creating purposeful employment opportunities for their customers and they want to work with like-minded people who believe in their values and like to get things done… and that is where you fit into the bigger picture!

They currently have a fantastic, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a dynamic, innovative customer focused manager with significant experience to join them and take responsibility for producing, developing and implementing a results-driven, fully integrated purposeful employment strategy to support the delivery of their business objectives. The core focus of the strategy will be to create achievable employment opportunities (voluntary and paid) for their customers. They see ‘purposeful employment’ as employment prospects and job satisfaction (including self-employment) which pays a real living income: employment which gives individuals life-long self-esteem leading to a healthy outlook (mental and physical) , ultimately reducing the costs of benefits, health service and the immeasurable but most important cost of “wasted lives”.

You will be a creative, strategic thinker having proven experience of inspirational leadership and an entrepreneurial approach; having the confidence to get out into the community; networking and negotiating; building strong external partnerships; identifying funding opportunities; managing bid processes; identifying or commissioning relevant market research and utilising analysis and insight to improve service effectiveness.

You will liaise closely with the Chief Executive and all other Directors: immersing yourself in the business with the ability to work at pace; confident in your own judgment, influencing and decision-making ability; providing strategic, operational and professional business and commercial advice to the strategic team with regards to purposeful employment.

This is a new role to them so it will be up to you to identify resource needs (voluntary and paid) and funding to develop a small team. You will be no stranger to IT, managing a budget and setting and monitoring department KPIs.

It goes without saying that being driven, forward-thinking, self-motivated and having personal resilience is essential, as is the need to communicate articulately with stakeholders at all levels. They welcome interest from individuals who have worked in sectors outside of the not-for-profit and charitable sectors, however you will have worked in a customer centred environment and have an awareness of social issues such as homelessness, well-being, support services and affordability.

Due to the nature of the role you must have a full clean UK driving licence with access to your own vehicle for work purposes. Please note, this role will be subject to a standard DBS check.

If you welcome the challenge and enjoy working in a fun, collaborative and authentic way that gets results, they’d love to hear from you. In return they can offer a fantastic environment and various amazing company perks including generous annual leave and pension, healthcare cash plans, great price cinema tickets, high street discounts and loads more!

The closing date and time for this role is 12:00 noon on Monday 14th October 2019.

The interview and assessment day will be held on Tuesday 22nd October 2019.
