Job Details
Our client, an independent global network established to catalyse impact investment and entrepreneurship.The organisation works with country-led National Advisory Boards (NABs), network partners and other key stakeholders, to identify priorities, deliver initiatives, raise awareness and advocate for the development of impact investing around the world. They are now looking to recruit a Finance Manager on a part -time temporary basis.
The role
Currently the organisation's team members work in 4 countries from either their home or a suitable office space. The organisation has plans to have a London office in October but until that time, team members work remotely, coming together via video conference call / Skype.The ideal candidate would therefore be a self-starter, an initiative taker, used to working by themselves in a flexible environment and comfortable being in a small enterprise with minimal structure. The working location would either be from home or from a convenient shared office space (with appropriate costs covered by the charity).
The placed candidate will be working for 3 days per week but with some flexibility for additional work if necessary, this will be at the beginning in order to get up to speed and maybe at other times around busy periods.
Key requirements
- Manage the current accounting system (Sage 100) and ensure all invoices are correctly processed
- Production of monthly accounts (by donor, project etc.)
- Budgeting and cash flow management
- Donor grant compliance and reporting
- VAT compliance and returns
- Charity Commission reporting
- Statutory accounts and preparation for audit
- Payroll
Necessary skills/ experience
- Hands-on experience of using Sage to a high level and competence in taking this over and, as necessary, adapting it to make it as helpful for management reporting as possible
- Strong understanding of charity accounting, donor grants and ability to manage restricted/unrestricted and core costs coverage
- Experience of a charity with a trading subsidiary and an understanding of risks and mitigations
- Charity Commission reporting
- Professional accounting qualification, degree
