About the role:

Dementia Talking Point is our clients online community for anyone affected by dementia. It’s a place to ask questions, share experiences and get information and practical tips about living with dementia. People can connect with someone who is going through a similar experience and receive valuable peer support. The service is operated by three teams – a small team of employees, and two teams of volunteers (who all have personal experience of dementia and volunteer from their homes in four different countries).

You will support the effective operation of Dementia Talking Point, working collaboratively with volunteers and employees on the team and escalating key issues to the Online Community Manager. You will help ensure that the service meets the needs of people affected by dementia including those who are at risk of harm and abuse.

You will help to ensure the service is promoted widely and is evaluated effectively to showcase the value and impact of peer support. You will be the data analysis lead for the team and participate in projects to improve user experience of the community. You will also manage a team of volunteers who are based remotely, offering support, training and guidance and actively support the organisation of volunteer meetings.

About you:

You are a supportive and empathic person, able to adapt your communication style to meet the needs of the person and the requirements of the task. You’re able to handle a varied workload, to respond well to urgent issues, and know when to escalate or collaborate with others. You’ll have a sound understanding of how to apply safeguarding policies and raise safeguarding alerts, ideally within the context of remote service delivery.

You’ll have a good knowledge of digital communication platforms and experience in moderating user generated content and in administrating online community software. You’ll have some experience in supporting volunteers and ideally, experience in managing volunteers as part of your role. You’ll understand the tasks involved in gathering statistical data and ideally have knowledge of using Google Analytics. You’ll ideally also have knowledge of dementia and the emotional impact of the challenges it can bring.

You may have experience of the following: Online Community Coordinator, Charity, Charities, Not for Profit, Third Sector, Chatrooms, Website Moderator, Online Environment, Communications, Social Media, Google Analytics, Website Manager, Online Community Manager, etc.
