Dame Kelly Holmes Trust is UK youth sports charity which supports 11-25-year-olds who are harder to engage in both education and in the community. We use the power of world class athletes to train and mentor young people to achieve their potential through personal, social and emotional development programmes. In partnerships nationally and locally, our programmes increase young people’s self-esteem, confidence and resilience which enables them to move into employment, become leaders within their communities, achieve in education and to improve their wellbeing through sport and physical activity.
Over the next 3 years, we will support at least 3,000 young people who are harder to reach, to achieve their potential. Each of these 3,000-young people, will inspire 5 more people within their community through their social action projects.
Over the last ten years we’ve helped more than 2,300 into employment as a result of our flagship Get on Track programme and in total our programmes have generated more than £23 million in social value since 2012 London Games.

It’s a very exciting time for the charity and we are now seeking to appoint a Head of Programmes and Impact, initially on a 12mth contract, to implement, manage and strategically develop the Trust’s programmes across the UK.
The role of Head of Programmes and Impact is to lead the implementation of the Trust’s operational strategy by overseeing the leadership and management of our programmes and services for young people, including ensuring contractual commitments are met. This post will also oversee the development programme of our Athlete Mentors and the implementation and development of our More Than Medals Athlete Transition programme.
The post holder will work with internal and external partners and stakeholders and be responsible for leading the performance, quality assurance and development of programme operations, ensuring delivery falls in line with contract and funder requirements, achieving high quality and positive outcomes for the organisation’s beneficiaries.
In this role you’ll use your strong communication, organisation and relationship building skills to work as part of an ambitious team to ensure continued quality and impact of our programmes and facilitating a commitment to continuous improvement.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• To oversee and develop the Trust programmes in collaboration with the Board of Trustees and the CEO.
• To lead the delivery of an operations strategy which delivers the agreed vision and goals for Trust, and to communicate this effectively within operations via KPIs, targets, and regular briefings.
• To contribute to overall strategy development as a member of the senior management team.
• Responsibility to ensure the preparation and timely submission of progress reports on objectives, budgets and targets.
• To lead, motivate and develop the operations team, using regular one-to-ones, annual appraisal and other performance management tools to ensure that managers and team members are enabled to grow, develop and give their best performance.
• Lead the design and implementation of effective and robust systems and processes for the operational delivery of programmes in achieving required delivery outputs.
• Being impact driven and using data and results to ensure the planning and delivery of a high-quality programme to drive continuous improvement.
• Lead on embedding and implementation of effective Quality Assurance programme in partnership with our impact and research partner with the ability to interpret Qual and Quant data how to use it to improve our programmes and drive this change.
• To ensure that the Trust is compliant with all the necessary protocols, insurance and legislation.
• To externally assess partnerships and organisational contacts to further the work of the Trust.
• To support and lead on areas of the organisational safeguarding commitment.
• To participate in other internal and external meetings/networks regularly.

How Evidenced and Assessed Leadership
• Experience of contributing to the development of overall strategy as part of a senior management team, and ability to translate this into operational strategy and plans that help deliver the organisation’s vision and mission.
• Extensive people management experience, including demonstrable expertise in managing people remotely.
Interview/ Application Knowledge and Experience
• A track record of excellent project management skills (accuracy, attention to detail, scheduling, problem solving and monitoring) at a national level and have a strong working knowledge of GDPR.
• Significant understanding and knowledge of young people’s needs, particularly those not in education, training or employment and those generally at the margins of society
