Our client is the UK's leading dementia charity. They provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia.

Position: Media Officer
Location: London
Contract type: Full Time, Fixed term contract until February 2020
Hours: 35 per week
Salary: £25,300 - £27,628 (Depending on skills and experience) + London allowance of £3,600

About the Role:

This post is key to raising the profile of our client and increasing understanding of dementia in Greater London.

The Media Officer is responsible for developing and delivering their external communications for the London region.

Key responsibilities include:

- Delivering and evaluating regional media relations activity that increases the profile of the charity and the issues associated with dementia
- Developing effective communication campaigns, that cover traditional and digital media, to increase understanding of dementia
- Working with important internal and external partners such as City Hall
- Building relationships with people living with dementia and their carers to help inform their work.

The Media Officer may be required to manage and work with volunteers. There is no staff line management required for this role. While there may be a requirement to travel throughout the UK on occasion, most travel will be within Greater London.

About You:

They are looking for a tenacious, committed and ambitious media officer, hungry for a challenge.

You will work autonomously and as part of different project groups to increase awareness of dementia in London. You will have an eye for a good news story and be creative in your approach to securing media coverage.

This role will give you a chance to really make a difference to the 72,000 Londoners living with dementia who need their support. Your role is fundamental in helping them achieve their goal to make London the world’s first dementia-friendly capital city.
