Head of Policy and Advocacy opportunity

Refugee Women Connect are looking for someone with relevant experience to lead and develop our policy, advocacy and communication work.  We work with and support women asylum seekers and refugees.  Our service delivery takes place locally but our policy and advocacy work will be national. We are a small but growing charity and have grown at a significant rate over the last few years.  Our next phase is to improve and increase our impact to bring about positive change to improve the lives of women asylum seekers and refugees.  We want to ensure all women asylum seekers and refugees know their rights and have support to be able to stand together to bring about change.  As Head of Policy and Advocacy you will get the opportunity and have the responsibility to lead on this change.

The role

This role is an opportunity for you to be at the forefront of raising issues and campaigning for change on a national level.  As we are still at the developing stages of our policy and advocacy work you will be able to bring and develop your own ideas.

The ideal candidate

The successful candidate will be experienced in managing policy, advocacy and communications. They will possess a great understanding, and experience of managing, the issues that affect women asylum seekers and refugees and have the experience and knowledge to develop strategies to support change for this group of women.  This is a prominent role within the organisation so the successful candidate needs to be comfortable with public speaking and liaising with the media.  There is also staff and volunteer management required so the successful candidate is required to have experience of managing  staff. Due to the nature of the role there is expected to be significant travel.  This post can be based in Liverpool or, for those living outside the area, this is a role that can be home based,  with regular travel to the office in Liverpool.

This is a really exciting role to help develop the organisation and impact change over the next 3 years.  The full details are contained in the job description and person specification.

To apply please email your completed application form to recruitment@refugeewomenconnect.org.uk by 10am on Monday 30 September 2019.

Refugee Women Connect is committed to equality and diversity and welcomes applications from all members of the community. Due to the nature of the work of the charity this role is open to women only (Exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part 1).

Please note we do not want any contact from other recruitment agencies.
