Job Details

Are you an experienced leader with a proven track record of facilitating and supporting strategic innovation, organisational change and service delivery?

Do you have strong influencing skills, as well as experience as a media spokesperson?

If so, you could be perfect as our new Head of Scotland.

About the role

At the British Heart Foundation our vision is a world free from the fear of heart and circulatory diseases. We recently published a bold new strategy that sets out how we're going to get closer to this vision over the next ten years.

Funding world-class research will continue to be at the core of what we do along with ensuring that it continues to be translated into real-world impact. We need to reach and engage with more people and communities affected by heart and circulatory diseases in Scotland and across the UK. We need to grow support and income for our cause and strive for excellence in everything we do.

Establishing strong partnerships with other organisations to help realise shared ambitions, and involving more people and communities in our work to create a groundswell of support for our cause are two critically important ways in which we will bring about the changes we want to see over the next decade.

As Head of Scotland your role will be to play a leading role in this, acting as our principal ambassador and be the leading face and media presence of the BHF in Scotland.

In this varied role, you'll also:

  • Act as the focal point for the BHF leadership team in Scotland, facilitating the sharing of information and collaboration around BHF strategic aims and ensuring delivery of the BHF's objectives in Scotland
  • Lead the process of senior stakeholder engagement in Scotland - coordinating and influencing health policy and practice, identifying and catalysing innovation, supporting and empowering patients
  • Build and maintain senior internal stakeholder relationships, working collaboratively with other nation heads and directorate leads to coordinate joint working across Directorates and between Head Office and the Scotland team.

About you

With senior leadership experience within a large complex organisation, you'll have an extensive network in the not-for-profit and/or medical sectors and evidence of effective interaction with key stakeholders and partners at the most senior level

You'll have a proven record of outstanding success in raising an organisational profile and brand awareness and will have 'soft' leadership skills with the ability to adapt your style to circumstances and lead through example and inspiration.

You'll also need to have the vision, strategic insight and intellectual capability to understand the environment in which the BHF is operating both in Scotland and in wider contexts.

In return we offer a generous benefits package including flexible working, healthcare cover, dental plan, subsidised gym membership and substantial annual leave.

About us

Heart and circulatory diseases kill 1 in 4 people in the UK. They cause heartbreak on every street. But if we can invent machines to restart hearts, fix arteries in newborn babies, build tiny devices to correct heartbeats, and if we can give someone a heart they weren't born with - imagine what's next.
