Trust and Foundations Grants Manager

Circa £30,000pa

Loughborough

At the Youth Sport Trust we’re driving change. As the leading youth sport children’s charity we’re impacting on the way sport is used to improve the lives of millions of young people. We are an ambitious charity with a clear vision for growth and a strong sense of values. Now is an exciting time for an experienced Grants Manager to identify and scope new innovative projects and obtain funding from Trusts and Foundations, Big Lottery and Government bodies at national, regional and local level.

As Trusts and Foundations Grants Manager you will be responsible for generating income via funding applications to grant making trusts and foundations and institutional donors such as governmental departments and commissioning bodies to fund a pipeline of projects aligned to our mission and strategy. You will monitor public funding streams as they are announced and identify those which are relevant for the Youth Sport Trust projects, prepare high quality funding applications and presentations and ensure the charity secures the maximum grant level applicable. You should be able to identify grant making trusts and foundations with an interest in education, young people, disability and sport and develop and build positive ongoing relationships to maximize the possibility of repeat grants. You will keep funders informed on the work of the Youth Sport Trust and build relationships with current and potential funders and wider community groups or other charities who could partner with us. You will work with colleagues to identify priority work to support and develop a strong ‘Case for support’ with timescales and detailed budgets. Most importantly, you will provide leadership through positive behaviours, setting direction, establishing potential funding and grant submission pipelines, building morale and developing performance in individuals associated with the work you do.

A strategic thinker, you must have a proven track record of successful bid writing and implementation of successful fundraising initiatives and processes for a range of potential funders, including trusts and foundations, government, big lottery or other relevant sources which have secured funding. An inspiring influencer and skilled writer, you will be able to create and deliver innovative and persuasive presentations and proposals for a range of audiences. Most importantly, you will have an interest in young people, sport, physical activity and physical education and its benefits.

Youth Sport Trust positively welcomes and seeks to ensure we achieve diversity in our workforce and that all job applicants and employees receive equal and fair treatment. We encourage applications from all candidates regardless of age, race, gender, gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or nationality.

If you have the skills to deliver increased income to support our work to build a brighter future for young people through sport please visit our website via the link and complete an online application.

The Youth Sport Trust is a registered charity, established in 1994.

Our mission is to build a brighter future for young people by enhancing the quality of their physical education (PE) and sporting opportunities.

  • We want to increase young people’s participation and enjoyment of PE and school sport.
  • We want young people to have the chance to experience and enjoy different types of activity at whatever level is right for them.
  • We want to ensure youngsters receive the best teaching, coaching and resources possible and have the chance to progress if they show talent.
  • We want to help our young people to live healthy and active lives and to be the best they can be.

How we achieve our aims

Our objectives are achieved through the educational sporting programmes that we produce. These are delivered through schools and are supported by a range of corporate partners, trusts and foundations and government departments.

Another important area of work is our support of Specialist Sports Colleges. These designated sports-focused schools are at the hub of the government’s strategy to enhance young people’s opportunities to participate in a wide range of sports. They also raise the standards of teaching and learning in PE and school sport, and across the curriculum. To assist Sports Colleges in the achievement of these aims, we provide them with a framework of support and resources.
