The Role:

Leighton House Museum, together with its sister museum, 18 Stafford Terrace, are two of London’s most outstanding historic house-museums.

A transformative capital project is about to start at Leighton House Museum that will complete the restoration of this stunning building and create a range of new visitor facilities, displays and resources.

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic fundraiser to play a key part in this transformation over the next two years with the possibility of a further extension to the contract at the end of that period.

You will be responsible for developing and delivering a fundraising strategy to support all aspects of the project through to the relaunch of the museum in 2021; organising the campaign process and capitalising on the exciting programme of events, educational activity and exhibitions being developed.

Under the Chairmanship of Sir David Verey, The Friends of Leighton House have played a critical role in fundraising for the project to date.  You will also be responsible for working with the Trustees of the Friends to further develop the organisation, implementing innovative ways of growing the membership and attracting support.

About You:

You will be able to demonstrate a track record in raising sums from amongst private individuals, trusts, foundations and commercial sponsors.  You must have excellent communication skills, whether writing compelling proposals or talking to prospects about our ambitions for the future.  You will be proactive and able to demonstrate a passion for arts and museums, work confidently with budgets and be able to deliver to tight deadlines. Working effectively as part of a small team, the post presents the opportunity to play a vital role in the transformation of the museum.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Role Requirements:

• The key responsibilities of the role are:
• To devise and implement a 2-year fundraising strategy
• To identify foundations and trusts that are relevant and make applications for grants and donations
• To work with the Friends of Leighton House to cultivate support of private individuals and maintain excellent relationships with those who have already donated.
• To develop the Friends of Leighton House (a registered charity) as a support organisation for the Museums, increasing membership and participation.
