Support Worker (Social Care) 

Founded in 1984, Our client is a pioneering registered charity located in Tower Hamlets. They support families, young people and adults of all ages to learn new skills, improve their health and wellbeing, find employment and develop the confidence to achieve their goals and transform their lives. The Centre provides a range of integrated services. 

Position: Social Care Support Worker 
Location: London, E3 
Job type: Part Time, Permanent 
Hours: 26 hours per week 
Salary: £19,201 Per Annum, Pro Rata 
Benefits: 27 days plus 3 days for Christmas plus Bank Holidays; plus 1 extra day that all staff get off for their birthday; Pension Contribution made 

About the role: 

You will have responsibility for supporting clients ensuring their skills are developed while enhancing health and wellbeing through participation across the wide range of services available at the Centre and through one to one support in the community. You will deliver support in a person-centred way and in accordance with the person’s individual needs and wishes. 

Clients will have a range of support needs, including learning disabilities, mental health, and older people, including those with physical and complex needs. You will be responsible for enabling clients to participate and be valued members of the community in which they live by supporting independence, choice, control and integration (as aligned to best practice and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Centre.) 

About you: 

The successful candidate will have a Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification or equivalent (or minimum level 2 and the ability and commitment to achieve Level 3 within 12 months) and a minimum of 1 years’ proven experience of supporting disabled people and their carers. You will have experience of planning support and activities based on the needs of the client and of delivering personalised support. 

Additionally, you will have experience of developing and maintaining relationships with clients, families/carers and experience of positively contributing to team work. You will also have experience of working in a diverse and multicultural environment. You must be able to work flexibly and adapt in line with the requirements of the role and the changing needs and wishes of clients. The ability to travel on your own and with clients to a variety of locations is also essential.
