ActionAid is an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. Our dedicated local staff are ending violence against women and girls and helping change lives, for good. We won’t stop until women and girls are out of danger, out of poverty and on track to create the future they want.

As our Supporter Communications Database Officer, you will take responsibility for ensuring that the details of over 80,000 supporters are aligned between the systems.

You will join this role during a period of transition to a new global child sponsorship database. During the final stages of the system implementation project, you will play a key role in testing, checking data alignment and training.

In order to succeed, you must have a love of data and a very keen eye for detail. You must be able to spot and rectify any discrepancies and be able to use data to monitor performance.

Another key responsibility of this post holder is to produce child profiles, which are essential for ActionAid’s child sponsorship programme. You will build complex mail-merge templates and will quality check information and photographs.

In order to do this, you will be required to communicate and build relationships with colleagues all over the world. You will provide them with information, support and constructive feedback, in order to ensure we meet the needs and expectations of our supporters.

Therefore, you must be a great relationship builder with good written and verbal communication skills. You must also have strong diplomacy and negotiation skills.

Applicants must have proven experience of working with a relational database, word processing and spreadsheets, along with the ability to work methodically, flexibly and independently.

Knowledge and experience of uploading and retrieving/evaluating information from a database, including analytical experience to reconcile counts and resolve database queries, is also essential.

If you have this skill set, along with a passion for working within an organisation committed to ending violence against women and girls, this may be the role for you.

Please note that this role is being offered as a 12-month fixed term contract. It is a part time role for 17.5 hours per week.

ActionAid is committed to driving improvement through digital channels, tools and ways of working. We will ensure that we provide the technology and the training to enable all staff to perform their roles to the best of their abilities. In return, we ask that all staff are committed to continually improving their digital skills and knowledge within the working environment. Our recruitment processes will evaluate the digital skills of all applicants.
