Job Details
Our client is a London based charity aiming to prevent homelessness. They work closely with vulnerable and socially excluded people to help transform their lives. They are currently looking to recruit a Support Worker to support their homeless service users who have substance misuse issues to work towards developing confidence to undertake the skills they need to live independently or within a lower support service. This is an accommodation based service that supports young people ages from 16 - 21. The position is offered on a full-time, temporary basis, initially for 3 months with a possibility of extension.
As a Support Worker, you will carry a case load, providing vulnerable and young homeless service users with a history of rough sleeping, with an effective and high quality support service within a hostel context. Providing tailored support to a caseload of clients, you will be conducting key working sessions to ensure they are receiving the support they require to assist them in achieving a life away from the streets. With many presenting with multiple and complex needs, you will work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies to ensure a wrap-around service that is effective and enables services users to achieve their goals and aspirations.
To be successful, you must have at least 1 years' experience of key working a caseload of homeless young presenting with complex needs, conducting risk assessments, support plans and have a working knowledge of safeguarding. You must also have demonstrable experience of working with clients with substance misuse, mental health and/or homeless-related needs, or a combination of these client groups. Candidates must also have a good level of computer literacy and numeracy.
The successful candidates will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday - Sunday on a rota covering early and late shifts (covering from 9 am - 5.30 pm or 10 am - 6:30 pm). Cover is required for 3 months initially, with a possibility of extension.
To be considered, you must be available immediately and be in possession of a fully enhanced DBS check that is registered to the online update service.
