Job Details

Addaction is one of the UK's leading charities working across mental health, drug, alcohol, prisons, primary care and young people’s services.  Last year we helped over 140,000 people across England and Scotland.

We believe that everyone can change and we support them to do it.

We’re looking for an experienced Trusts & Foundations Manager to join our friendly External Affairs team and help us fund the vital work we do changing people’s lives.

You’ll be managing our relationships, applications and income from a range of organisations including Trusts, Foundations, Statutory funders and the National Lottery Community Fund (The Big Lottery).
As well as developing high quality, well-written funding applications and bids on time and within budget, you’ll be working on the end to end funding process - from researching and identifying grant makers that can be matched to emerging local or national funding priorities, right the way through to ensuring projects are successfully handed over to our operations teams and delivered in accordance with funder requirements.

Crucially, you’ll do more than source funding opportunities for our existing projects but will enjoy using your creativity to work directly with our operations teams and service users to turn initial concepts into new and innovative service models that will support our end beneficiaries.

As a result, you’ll add real value through fresh thinking and will keep abreast of local and national policy and practice developments as well as funding trends in the sector to create exciting propositions for prospective funders.

You’ll join the organisation at a busy and exciting time, with the opportunity to be involved in a broad range of projects.

About you

Ideally you’ll have:

A genuine desire to make a positive difference to the lives of those affected by drug or alcohol misuse and mental health

Demonstrable experience in securing funds from trusts, foundations and/or statutory sources and will be able to tell us about funding that you have successfully secured from the National Lottery Community Fund (the Big Lottery) specifically.

Experience in designing or developing innovative new programmes or projects to support the aims of your organisation or the needs of beneficiaries/service users

Excellent and persuasive bid/application writing and researching skills

Confidence to network and influence, with the ability to successfully steward funder relationships including turning one-off relationships into long-term, strategic partnerships

All of this needs a forward planner with unrivalled ability to stick to deadlines, as well as a team player who will work collaboratively in our small and friendly voluntary income team.

Other details
Location: The role can be based in our London (Farringdon) or Glasgow office and can include some home-working.  It will also involve some travel around England and Scotland as required.

Salary £35,893 depending on experience and a benefits package including 28 days annual leave. Additional London Weighting added for London based candidates.
