Support Manager / Activity Manager
Our client is the UK's leading dementia charity. They provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia.
Position: Group Activity Support Manager
Location: Colchester, CO3 3UE
Contract type: Part Time, Permanent
Hours: 21 per week
Salary: £13,279 actual per annum
Closing date: 23 August 2019

About the role:
Working within their Essex Community Support service, you will have the rewarding opportunity of managing the day to day delivery of their group support services for people with dementia and their carers. Your role supports people affected by dementia to maintain their independence, improve their sense of well-being, and puts them in more control of their lives.
You will manage a small team of Group Co-ordinators and volunteers who deliver Information Hubs, Singing for the Brain, peer support groups and activity groups. In addition, you will manage the development of new and innovative time limited groups, which are part of their dementia friendly community initiative. You will be responsible for the delivery of a high-quality service within Essex, ensuring their services are run efficiently, effectively safely and that contractual expectations are met.
About you:
They are looking for a well-motivated, creative and resourceful person, ideally who has proven experience managing teams of paid staff and volunteers. You must be able to work collaboratively with internal and external partners and be able to motivate a team to carry out their role. You will hold an NVQ 3 (or equivalent), have good IT skills combined with an ability to plan and prioritise. The duties associated with the role can be varied so we are looking for someone who is an effective communicator and has an understanding of operational detail. This role will work closely with the Service Manager.
Due to the nature of this role you will be required to travel independently. The office base is in Colchester and you will work across North East and West Essex. A DBS disclosure will be required.
