Are you a part-qualified Accountant with experience of working within a housing or homelessness organisation?
Prospectus is delighted to be supporting a leading homelessness prevention charity to recruit a new Accountant.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the overall purpose of this role is to ensure all accounting records are accurate and maintained. You will be responsible for rent and income processing, weekly and monthly KPI reporting, reconciliations as well as petty cash and credit cards. In addition to line managing the Rent Officer and Rent Assistant, day to day duties will consist of liaising with housing managers and key stakeholders, ensuring rent and service charge data is entered accurately, producing weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts as well as carrying out weekly and yearly reconciliations of arrears and pre-paid balances on the rent ledger system. The successful candidate will monitor all cash and credit card transactions as well as managing quarterly and annual returns. You will also oversee rent processing to ensure rent journals are posted correctly and reconciled weekly. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work closely with the fundraising team regarding fundraised income.
To be considered for this role it is essential to have demonstrable experience of accounting and Excel functions with experience of managing and leading a team. You are required to have knowledge of rent accounting packages within a social housing setting with experience of service charge setting processes. The placed candidate will have proven experience of producing reports, preparing statutory accounts and bank reconciliation. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are essential with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders. Knowledge of accounting principles such as FRS 102 and Charity Sorp 2015 is highly desirable.
