About the role:

This is a new home-based regional fundraiser role focused on the Essex region working as part of a dynamic and driven supporter-focused Community Fundraising Team. This pivotal community role is focused on a new growing area of fundraising for the charity and you will be a vital part of their strategic ambition to localise our client through their Never Far Away Essex appeal. They’re aiming to raise £300,000 within two years and this role will be instrumental in delivering this income and network of new supporters for our client.

You’ll be leading on implementing their appeal strategy, driving new business delivery and managing a strong prospecting pipeline to grow their support in Essex. It’s an exciting role stewarding their high-value supporters across the county, working with them and their local volunteers to inspire new support for our client, building an effective network of long-term relationships across the community from individuals to local businesses, to organisations and schools.

About the Team:

Community Events is a public-facing team raising around £6m every year, working with thousands of supporters across the UK who raise money in aid of the Charity through a varied range of activity. The team also has responsibility for their volunteer ambassador programme, in-memory fundraising, and the ‘Charity Hub’ at the hospital, whilst working closely with the wider hospital community.

About you:

This exciting role would suit a positive, highly driven, self-motivated communicator who prides themselves on spotting and converting new opportunities with all types of community audiences. A track record of donor development, building strong relationships and new business experience (including achieving and exceeding targets) is key to focusing time and energy where it counts.

Specifically, you will have:

- Significant relevant fundraising experience (or sales-focused / target-driven role working with community audiences).
- Proven ability in driving new business opportunities (from prospecting to long-term support).
- Excellent relationship-manager and networker.
- A passion for working towards ambitious targets and raising the local profile of our client.
- A strategic approach to capitalise on opportunities and prioritise best ways to add value.
- Keen ability to take ownership of your objectives and be a self-starter.
- The ability to travel around the Essex region daily with a full, clean UK drivers’ licence and access to a car for frequent local / regional travel, as well as effective broadband internet access for homeworking.

The ideal candidate will also have:

- Experience of home-based working with a regional / local community focus.
- Database experience (Salesforce), analysing information and reporting on KPIs.
- Knowledge of IOF guidelines ensuring all fundraising activities are compliant.
- Previous experience of working with and getting the best from volunteers / local contact.

About the Charity:

Every day brings new challenges for our client. Every day, over 600 seriously ill children from across the UK arrive for life-changing treatments. Every day, young lives hang in the balance as patients, families and staff battle the most complex illnesses. And every day, the brightest minds come together to achieve pioneering medical breakthroughs that change the lives of thousands of children – and change the world. This extraordinary hospital has always depended on charitable support to give seriously ill children the best chance to fulfil their potential. Without donations, Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity can’t help fund ground-breaking research, advanced equipment, child and family support services, and the rebuilding and refurbishment of wards and medical facilities. Their staff help to raise these vital funds for the hospital. A better future for seriously ill children starts with you.

They offer a range of attractive benefits including; a flexible approach to working, 30 days holiday, life assurance, enhanced employer pension contributions, and a discounted season ticket loan.
