Charity Trustees Sought

Do you want to make a difference? Do you want to share your expertise? Are you looking for a new challenge? If so, you may be just the person we are looking for.

Aspens Charities (Aspens) was formed in 2016 following the merger of two long-standing charities Autism Sussex and Pepenbury. We offer a range of high-quality services and support including Residential, Supported Living, Outreach and Day Services to over 700 children, young people and adults with a range of conditions, complex needs and those on the autism spectrum. We help children to develop the skills they need to live independently as adults; and adults to realise their potential, fulfil their ambitions and achieve greater independence. Our highly trained staff provide a personalised service focused on individual needs and offer support and advice to empower families, carers and other professionals to confidently look after those who benefit from our services across Sussex, Kent and South East London.

We are now consolidating and developing the organisation, having combined the resources and best practices of both charities. A full organisational and financial restructure is underway to make it stronger and more sustainable for the future. We would be particularly interested to hear from potential Trustees who have experience of mergers or collaborative ventures in the Third Sector.

We wish to appoint three new Trustees, ideally with expertise in one of the following areas:

  • Finance, preferably with suitable and appropriate qualifications
  • Human Resources, Operations, Training and Organisational Development
  • General Business and Commercial acumen

Applicants should be able to understand the role of a Trustee, support strategic decision making and uphold high standards of service quality.

The role requires a time commitment of c15 days per year to attend Board and Committee meetings (held quarterly, usually in Kent) and to carry out other Trustee duties including regular service visits. The post is voluntary and ‘out of pocket’ expenses will be paid.

For more information, please contact Marcia Knowles, PA to the Chief Executive on 01424 773366 Ext: 100/ 07718108901 or email marcia.knowles@aspens.org.uk for an application pack.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Closing date for Applications:  12.00pm (Noon) on Wednesday 25 September 2019
