Job Details

SUDEP Action is a national charity with global reach working directly with people who experience sudden deaths in epilepsy and with researchers and professionals to reduce risk. They work to make services better and campaign for policy change that will help end SUDEP and epilepsy deaths. Epilepsy is in the top ten of all causes of death in people under 70 with at least 21 deaths a week in the UK, mostly sudden deaths in young and otherwise healthy people.

With 2019 as their best year yet in national profile (including a win of the British Medical Journal Education Team of 2019), it is an exciting time to join the charity and their small, experienced team of 11 staff.

SUDEP Action are looking for the right person to join them as part of the senior management team within a dynamic organisation, in a new role. They are seeking an experienced and successful senior fundraiser, with a proven track record, who can create a new fundraising strategy to take the charity’s activities up to the next level. They have many significant opportunities waiting to be developed by a keen individual; particularly in the areas of corporate and major donors. The charity want to welcome a confident individual who thrives as part of a team, whilst having autonomy in a new role, to join them in this exciting new phase of the charity’s growth.

Purpose of the role:

As part of a well networked and driven team, you will report direct to the CEO. Your focus will be to lead on income generation. You will work as part of a small senior management team and be responsible for line managing an experienced Community Services and Fundraising Coordinator.

You will create and implement a fundraising strategy, with a view to taking the income generation of the charity up to the next level, and beyond in a sustainable way in line with current projects and aspirations and collaborations.

Essential person specification to include:

  • A minimum of three years’ experience and proven track record in charitable fundraising
  • Proven track record of generating significant gifts from high net worth individuals
  • Proven track record of working with corporates in a range of ways e.g. sponsorship, partnerships, staff involvement, Corporate Social Responsibility, Charity of the Year
  • Good understanding of the principles of all fundraising including through public funds, trusts and foundations
  • Experienced line manager
