Events & Communications Officer
Permanent
Salary: £28,000 to £34,000 per annum
Based in London
We are delighted to be working with John Lyon's Charity to recruit an Events & Communications Officer. This person will work closely with the Senior Grants & Communications Manager and the Grants Director by taking a lead in organising events and ongoing communications activities of the charity.
This role will entail managing and maintaining the charity's presence on social media, organising events run by the charity, both internally and externally, assisting in input and the implementation of the charity's communications strategy whilst working towards achieving a higher media presence both within the beneficial area, throughout London and on a wider national level. There will also be a campaigns component to this role which will be aimed at increasing the charity's engagement with its beneficiaries.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated communications, PR and events coordination experience and outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Flexible and creative, this person will have substantial experience of providing compelling and accurate content for social media campaigns and marketing activity. This will include writing press releases, securing media coverage, spotting stories relevant to the work of the organisation and promoting the valuable services of the charities they support. Strong IT and office based skills backed up by a real interest and intellectual curiosity will be essential for this vital role. A good eye for graphic design will be useful but not essential. This person will ideally come from a charity or "third sector" environment but this experience could also have been gained from the corporate sector where some demonstration of voluntary sector interest can be evidenced, perhaps through volunteering or charitable involvements.
This is a very exciting opportunity to work with a well-respected and forward thinking grant maker, supporting unique opportunities for children and young people in the North West London region.
To apply, please submit a Word Document version of your CV. Cover letters are not required at this stage; a full job description will be provided to candidates shortlisted by Prospectus.
