Our client is the UK's leading dementia charity. They provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia. 

Position: Dementia Adviser 
Location: Halifax 
Contract type: Full Time, Permanent 
Hours: 35 per week 
Salary: £20,345 actual per annum

About the role: 

They have a vacancy for a Dementia Adviser to provide a highly responsive, individualised information and signposting service to people with dementia and their families. 

They are looking for a well-motivated, highly organised person with excellent communication and people skills to provide support to people with dementia and their carers. Enabling maintenance of their independence, improving their sense of well-being and putting them more in control of their lives. You will be required to manage referrals and maintain a caseload logging accurate, up to date support plans and records for service users. 

You will also be responsible for running a weekly wellbeing café alternatively in the BD2 and Ilkley areas alongside a team of volunteers, this will entail you ensuring the venue, refreshments and entertainment run smoothly and acting as a host for the event ensuring all are included. 

About you: 

Are you an enthusiastic, inspiring and resilient individual? Can you hit the ground running? Do you enjoy being part of a team and being part of developing something exciting? 

You will possess a relevant NVQ Level 3 or have equivalent skills and experience. You will need excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to work well within a busy service environment. Ideally you will possess an in depth understanding of the needs of people with dementia and their carers. 

You will be speaking to people at all levels in your local area across a diverse community so great networking and influencing skills are essential. You must also have the ability to manage several tasks at once and keep yourself motivated to perform to meet deadlines. 

This role involves regular use of IT packages; therefore a good standard of IT is desirable. 

The role covers Bradford, Airedale and Wharfedale with additional travel to and from Halifax, therefore ability and willingness to travel independently is essential.
