Assistant Communications Officer
Once upon a time there was a group of storytellers, some of the greatest storytellers in all the land. These storytellers could captivate any audience, even those with the attention span of a goldfish and a chronic scrolling habit, the most cynical journalists and busy politicians.
What was their secret I hear you cry? Well these storytellers knew the power of the stories they told about children and young people with cancer, and the honour it was to tell them.
Now they are on the hunt for someone amazing to join their team and help them tell more people those powerful stories. They don’t expect you to know everything (who does?!) but they do want you to have the right attitude, be keen to learn and to care.
Position: Assistant Communications Officer
Location: London
Job type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: circa £22,000 per annum
About the role:
Well you’ll have to be a wizard at organising a busy workload but just as happy chatting to people from all walks of life, building great relationships with families the charity works with, journalists and colleagues across the charity.
About you:
You’ll get a real buzz from seeing how you can help change the system and make stuff happen for young cancer patients. You’ll be unflappable, friendly, determined and have loads of creative ideas. But you also need to be prepared to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in with the less fun but essential stuff that keeps the team running, like maintaining spreadsheets and record keeping.
The best bit is you really will get to learn on the job, you’ll have your own portfolio of projects but will also help people across the team - so on any day you could be working on a pitch to a TV programme, emailing a celebrity, managing our social media channels or writing an internal news story.
In return we offer a competitive salary, impressive benefits, tea, cake or granola bars (whatever floats your boat) and the opportunity to be part of one of the most exciting charities around.
You may have experience of the following: Assistant Communications Officer, Communications Officer, Communications Assistant, PR Officer, PR Executive, Marketing Communications Officer, Marcoms, Marketing Officer, Marketing Executive, Marketing Communications Executive, Charity, Charities, NFP, Not for Profit, etc.
