This role plays a vital part in delivering valuable, useful and usable platforms, systems and services that enable the successful delivery of the Technology Portfolio roadmap, but more importantly to ensure quality, performant and user centric services to the consumers of these platforms. 

Reporting to the Head of Technology Services, this role will manage the newly-created Quality Assurance team and lead the development of rigorous quality assurance process. Initially the team will focus in on testing software and applications helping establish behaviour driven development practices. However as department grows in its maturity towards quality assurance, testing and standards governance, it is expected the team will broaden its quality assurance remit to cover more widely, subjects such as accessibility, data quality and even content & marketing. 

You will be an advocate and driver of change and have the vision & experience to see where innovation in our testing practices can provide opportunities to align our governance and standards and utilise our existing technology stack more effectively, bringing long term and far reaching opportunities to improve engagement with our supporters and business users as well as operational and cost efficiency. 

This a key leadership role within the Digital Department at the RSPB and providing a high level of Service is key. This role will be responsible for ensuring that we lead on testing practices and the move of work into live and bring the Business users with us. The successful candidate will be responsible for a team of 6 testers and have line management of 4. The team will be made up of both those with manual test experience and those with automated test experience.
