Head of Volunteering 

our client provides two very important functions, which provides paediatric transfers across the UK. Their objective is to save lives, utilising specialist pilots, doctors, and paramedics and with their work centred on saving lives, improving clinical outcomes and being able to react quickly and efficiently to emergencies. 

They are at the forefront of innovative clinical care and they challenge boundaries. None of this can be achieved without a hugely dedicated team of colleagues, volunteers and the general public. 

Position: Head of Volunteering 
Location: Rugby, Warwickshire (Commutable from Coventry, Royal Leamington Spa, Nuneaton, Daventry, Northampton and surrounding areas) 
Job type: Full Time, Permanent 
Salary: £38,000 to £45,000 per annum 

About the role: 

The role of Head of Volunteering will be working closely with the Deputy CEO designing and implementing the long term strategic plans and priorities for the volunteering function across our client and another associated with. You will be responsible for developing new, and maintaining existing, partnerships to generate a Volunteering workforce to drive their Charities ambitious growth plans moving forward. 

The role is both tactical and strategic in its intent and has direct accountability for all Volunteers for our client and subsidiaries; and is responsible for delivery of the overarching strategy Volunteer Recruitment, Engagement and Management. 

Leading a diverse team of talented, passionate people you will deliver a set of stretching targets to support the ambitions of the organisation whilst being a leading part of exciting growth, challenge and change as they expand their National Service and extend their HEMS provision. 

There will be a significant focus on developing a nationwide workforce of Volunteers and engaging communities in line with delivering the organisations strategic growth plans with our client whilst continuing to develop and grow volunteer HEMS support in their heartlands. 

In line with their values you will develop your team to maximise their potential and Volunteers for the charity and share your experience and knowledge to drive a culture of trust, high performance and ambition whilst addressing any performance challenges. 

Responsibilities: 

- Develop and implement their overarching Volunteering Strategy. 
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation to maximise revenue. 
- Develop and deliver new national strategic volunteering opportunities for the charity. 
- Lead and motivate a multi-disciplined team. 
- Mentor and develop the team to maximise potential. 
- Build relationships with the Income Generation function to maximise the utility of our revenue optimisation. 
- Ensure targets are communicated, met and exceeded. 
- Manage the functional P&L ensuring you maximise ROI on all expenditure. 
- Utilise data and insights to focus on key growth areas. 
- Develop and manage new, and existing, relationships whilst maximising volunteering opportunities. 
- Champion Volunteering and promote the organisation at Industry events. 

About you: 

The role holder will have a proven background in developing and implementing a Volunteering strategy with strong leadership capability to drive the function to exceed its organisational objectives. 

They will have experience of working in the charity sector and have the ability to inspire a large workforce of Volunteers in the communities in which they operate to continue to maximise discretionary effort and develop long, productive and positive relationships. 

The role holder will be based at Blue Skies House, Rugby, Warwickshire, with moderate travel within the UK as required to fulfil the role.
