Job Details

The Queen Rania Foundation (QRF) is an education and development charity operating in Jordan and the Arab region. Our vision is quality education for all, from kindergarten onwards, taught by dynamic and well-trained teachers who excite students and instil in them not only a love of learning today but life-long curiosity. We want to train a generation of forward-thinking Jordanians and other young Arabs, well-versed in local and global issues, able to harness technology’s tools and compete with their peers wherever they are in the world. We look to build models of what works in Jordan, and then work with partners to scale similar efforts to other countries.

We’re off to a great start! QRF is now not only a hub for new learning ideas, but it has also become an incubator for new education programmes and new educational technology. Our pan-Arab initiative, Edraak, is the first of its kind, offering Arabic online courses across the Arab world to millions of learners. Our teaching academy prepares teachers to serve in classrooms across Jordan and the UAE.

We are now seeking a new Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships to help us build our philanthropic support, so we may maintain and grow our educational initiatives. Reporting to the Chief Executive and working closely with the Office of Her Majesty Queen Rania, the new Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships will be integral in ensuring the sustainability and growth of our programmes. The incoming Director will lead a team of five and work to grow support, particularly from major donors within the region and internationally.

Applicants will be passionate about QRF’s mission and will bring a successful track record of building productive, long-term, high-value philanthropic relationships together with evident major gift fundraising and leadership experience. Applicants will have experience of developing and implementing an integrated and diverse fundraising strategy and proven successful experience of creative fundraising from a variety of sources. This role is based in Amman, Jordan, but will work closely with our London office. The role will include regular international travel; fluency in Arabic is a strong preference.

An executive search exercise is being undertaken by Perrett Laver who will support QRF in identifying the widest possible field of qualified candidates and assist in their assessment against the requirements for the role.

Location: Jordan.

Salary: competitive.

Company

The Queen Rania Foundation was established by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah in 2013 with the aim of improving education outcomes in Jordan and the surrounding region. Since then, we have endeavored to achieve this objective by focusing our efforts on a range of overlapping areas including Early Childhood Care and Development, innovation in learning, and teacher training. Today, the Queen Rania Foundation continues to carry out research, design innovative programs, and support policy makers as they develop education programs.

We believe that our people are our greatest asset and we are proud of our ability to attract the best in the field. Our roots are firmly in Jordan, it’s what sustains and guides us. However, we also have a global presence through our London office, which ensures Jordan has a voice on the world stage. Our team consists of more than 40 men and women who are passionate about changing the reality of education for all Arabic speakers, wherever they are.

Queen Rania Foundation for Education and Development aims to be the premier resource on educational issues, in Jordan and around the Arab world, and to act as an incubator for new ideas and initiatives.

National resources for education are unable to cope with the growing demand for quality education and the continuously evolving requirements of the 21st century. As a result, we are seeing children and young people in Jordan and the region contend with a multitude of challenges that render them unable to develop the skills they need to succeed in today's knowledge economies.

Our true wealth lies in our young people, and investing in their minds is the only way we can hope to achieve social development and compete in the global markets.
