Job Details

My client is a University based in West London and is currently redesigning and re-launching its website to meet
the needs of a digital media-savvy generation of students. Part of the website has already been relaunched but
this post will play a substantial role in the second phase of the project, interfacing with suppliers, inputting user
needs, reviewing specifications, and quality assuring the new website before launch. This role will also include streamlining user centric content and developing the content strategy.

Description

The Key responsibilities for this Senior Digital Producer based in West London are as follows:

  • Manage production and delivery of creative content projects, including video production and other rich media assets, working with specialist production companies as needed.

· Plan and write new areas of content for the website and re-organise existing areas, to surface key messages and ensure smooth user journeys.

· Line manage three web content producers, providing guidance, oversight and quality assurance for their work.

· Take a user-focused approach to production to ensure that new products meet the needs of the target audience (primarily prospective students).

· Plan upgrades to the University website, which could include accessibility improvements, new functionality, design and style sheet changes, and routine upgrades.

· Work with an external development agency to commission, schedule, and oversee web developments.

· Participate in testing of new developments before they are released to the live website, providing quality assurance across a range of different use cases, browsers and devices. Document any bugs or issues and collate results provided by others.

· Input into the website redesign project, including interfacing with suppliers, inputting user needs, reviewing and providing feedback on designs and functionality, providing quality assurance, and overseeing content migration.

· Assist with organising user testing sessions, interpreting results, and identifying follow-up actions.

· Work closely with stakeholders around the university to understand digital production requirements, make recommendations, report progress and obtain feedback.

· Use web analytics tools (Google analytics and others) to understand user behaviour and recommend improvements.

· Apply knowledge of web best practice including usability, accessibility and Search Engine Optimisation.

· Show comprehensive knowledge of how CMS systems are used to update websites.

· Apply appropriate project management techniques and maintain project documentation, including briefs, details of changes, timelines and budgets.

Profile

The successful Senior Digital Producer will have the following exposure:

  • Experience of delivering projects for major public-facing websites from initiation through to delivery, including both technical developments and video / rich media / interactive content projects.
  • A thorough knowledge of how Content Management Systems are used to manage and update web content.
  • Experience of taking a user-centred approach to developing content and improving websites.
  • Experience of commissioning work from external suppliers.
  • A good understanding of factors affecting website accessibility and Search Engine Optimisation.
  • Knowledge of a range of project management tools and techniques (whether or not these are part of a specific project management methodology).
  • Significant demonstrable experience of working in digital media.
  • Experience of applying a recognised project management methodology (Prince2 or Agile) to web-based digital projects.
  • Experience of working with open source content management systems (preferably Drupal).
  • Experience of using collaborative tools for digital project management such as Basecamp, Trello, JIRA etc. Specific skills to the job Writing briefs for digital projects, clearly articulating the user need.
  • Creating and maintaining project documentation.
  • Managing projects with complex requirements and multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Job Offer

This Senior Digital Producer position is based in West London, Education and Training is not an essential however experience of working on large website would be advantageous. The salary on offer is £36,535 - £44,381 + benefits.
