Our client, a leading environmental NGO that campaigns to solve the major environmental problems of our time, is now looking for a Senior Lawyer to provide them with both the legal advice and representation in support of their overall aims and objectives. A core focus of this role is to defend and extend environmental justice.

As a Senior Lawyer, you will inform and support the development of campaign strategy and tactics, as well as identifying and developing litigation opportunities. Part of your role will also be to help identify and develop litigation opportunities. Contributing to the management of the legal team, you will help support and manage more junior members of the legal team, while also educating and training colleagues, campaigners, activists and target groups on key legal issues. The Senior Lawyer will defend, promote and strengthen environmental law and access to environmental justice by applying expert knowledge and your creativity in new and innovative ways to achieve this.

We are seeking a qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a current practicing certificate in England and Wales, with significant PQE, it is essential that you have proven experience of working in UK public law, and with some depth of expertise specifically in the environmental and/or planning sectors. Litigation experience is very important and you will have had conduct of environmental or planning cases with examples of success. As a creative strategic thinker ,you will effectively add value to campaigns by identifying legal opportunities that will have an impact. Being able to work under pressure and to present complex legal information clearly and concisely to non-lawyers is a crucial part of the job, in addition to being comfortable communicating effectively and confidently to a range of audiences and at significant public events.
