Location: UK, Haywards Heath

Salary: £48,000-52,000

Contract: 12 month Fixed Term Contract

High quality evidence and research are critical for Sightsavers operations. We hold an independent research organisation status by the UK Research Councils and make significant investments in generating evidence from research, evaluations and routine programme systems.

We are currently seeking an experienced Technical Advisor to co-lead and co-develop our NTDs research portfolio and to provide management to our NTDs research projects. As the Technical Advisor you will be the key Sightsavers contact for Azithromycin Impact Research (AIR) study, which assesses the impact of azithromycin on infant mortality in Nigeria and Ethiopia, and this will be implemented in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Further duties will include providing scientific leadership to the study evaluating the areas of unknown transmission of onchocerciasis, schistosomiasis and soil transmitted helminths (STH) in northern Ghana. You will also support other NTD studies in Ghana, Liberia and Nigeria, and contribute to data analysis and publications.

As the ideal candidate for this role, you will have a Masters (or equivalent) in Public Health, Epidemiology, or similar; possess experience in conducting operational research in developing countries, including large scale epidemiological surveys and have knowledge of NTD organisations and networks. You will also have experience of project management and working on funding proposals to external donors.

This is not an exhaustive list of duties or essential professional skills, please read the complete Job Description available on our website for further details.
