Are you an experienced Policy and Public Affairs professional interested in making a positive impact?

We are delighted to be supporting an important charity dedicated to raising literacy levels in the UK. With 25 years' experience of delivering programmes and campaigns to improve skills and confidence, the organisation is rapidly growing with ambitious plans.

Reporting to the Head of Policy and Campaigns, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading on the delivery of their policy and public affairs work. You will maintain and build their high profile policy makers and national and local government, as well as other stakeholders. Key day to day duties will consist of managing public affairs activity, monitoring and analysing developments in public policy, and ensuring the organisation is aware of any response to policy issues, legislation and developments relevant to literacy in the UK. In addition to providing evidence based responses, you will prepare reports, briefings, articles and web pages on policy issues. In addition, the placed candidate will work closely with the communications, programmes and corporate partnership teams including working externally with politicians and policy makers.

To be considered for this role, it is essential to have substantial policy and public affairs experience such as drafting policy papers, partnership building, and leading cross sector campaigns. The placed candidate will have knowledge of effective methods and approaches to public affairs and policy influencing. You are required to have excellent copywriting skills and an understanding of research, as well as the ability to build and maintain partnerships. This role is ideally suited to someone who is proactive and results driven with an interest in literacy and social justice issues. An understanding of corporate partnerships is desirable.
