Are you passionate about supporting our different communities to take up social action and volunteering to create real change in their neighbourhoods?  Can you help us create the right conditions in the Council and with partners to make it easier for people to contribute their skills to improve the life of the city?

The City Council has prioritised support for citizens to take up volunteering and social action in their communities and addressing disadvantage and inequality by supporting the work of Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations in the city.

This role offers the opportunity to play a major part in delivering these goals as part of our new Community Resources Team. We’re looking for an enthusiastic, experienced person to join us who can:

  • Work with VCSE organisations to build on the approach we’ve developed with the Bristol VCS Grants Prospectus and the Bristol Impact Fund
  • Maintain, develop and use monitoring systems and information to inform our conversations across the city
  • Support the Area Committee process to invest local Community Infrastructure Levy and Section 106 monies within neighbourhoods
  • Help develop new tools and initiatives/campaigns, such as the Candobristol web platform to support citizen action as part of the Mayor’s Social Action Plan
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how inequality impacts on the city’s different communities and how we can contribute to improving inclusion from disadvantaged communities in shaping the public life of the city through our team’s and Service’s work

This role will involve some evening and weekend work which will make up your usual working week and which you will be able to take back as flexi time.

Join us and you’ll receive a generous rewards package including flexible working and flexi-time, membership of the Local Government Pension scheme, and generous annual leave allowance. In addition, you’ll be working in a supportive environment where you’ll have the chance to make Bristol a better place and contribute to its future.

Closing date: 30 July 2019.

At Bristol City Council, we value having a workforce as diverse as the City we serve.  We therefore welcome, develop and promote people from all sections of the community.
