Play Worker 

An exciting role working for a national charity. 

Our client is a national charity which supports people affected by imprisonment. They provide practical and emotional support to prisoners' children and families, and to prisoners themselves. 

Position: Play Worker 
Location: HMP Woodhill, Milton Keynes 
Job type: Part Time, Permanent 
Hours: 3 - 9 hours per week, working 3 hour shifts on Saturdays & Sundays 
Salary: £9.00 an hour

About the role: 

They are looking for a forward-thinking, creative childcare worker to join their play project within HMP Woodhill. You will provide support and play opportunities to the children using play facilities at the Prison. 

The post holder will work as one of the children’s services team, assisting in the organising of a daily play facility for children visiting HMP Woodhill. You will ensure that the play facilities operate at an excellent standard and safeguard children at all times, ensuring that activities are suited to the range of children visiting. 

About you: 

You will have experience of planning and delivering play to children and families within a challenging environment; you will also be a good communicator, reliable and enthusiastic. A NNEB or NVQ level 2 in childcare or equivalent is essential. You should have at least one years’ experience of play work with children. It essential that you have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and can relate sensitively to the varying needs of the children visiting the Prison. 

You must also have the ability to work flexibly, as this role will include regular weekend work. 

This post is subject to pre-employment checks, a Satisfactory DBS disclosure and Enhanced Prison security clearance.

This post is subject to a 6 month probationary period, verification of identity and proven right to work in the UK, satisfactory references from previous employers covering a 3 year period, declaration of any unspent criminal convictions (and where appropriate a satisfactory risk assessment), Prison Vetting and a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced check. Please note that being bankrupt or having County Court Judgements may affect your ability to be successfully vetted to work in a prison.
