Are you looking for a life changing job? Do you want to help change the world, working with the world’s leading academics to enable them to deliver world-class, life-changing research in medicine?  Do you want the opportunity to work with donors to secure gifts in excess of £1 million?

The University of Cambridge’s Development & Alumni Relations Office works at the cutting edge of philanthropy.  The Dear World... Yours, Cambridge Campaign aims to raise £2bn – the most ambitious European campaign ever.  Since it launched in 2015, £1.5 billion has already been raised and the University has recently celebrated its most successful fundraising year ever for the second successive year running.

The Office leads the way in the UK and employs the brightest and the best in the field.  You will be joining an exciting, challenging and rewarding place to work. Ours is an office where we are passionate, supportive and collegiate in our approach, where excellence is recognised and people love their jobs.  Your colleagues are the best in their field and the sector’s future leaders.

You will be securing philanthropic income for one of the University’s flagship projects - the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.  This is a major partnership spanning the University of Cambridge, National Health Service, Medical Research Council, not-for-profit organisations, multi-nationals, and small to medium-sized technology and pharmaceutical companies. The co-location of the University’s major research, clinical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology partners with its own experts offers an exceptional and unique environment for discovery, innovation and translation across the medical spectrum.

The post-holder will be a part of an intensive and exciting period of transformation within the University. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to work for an institution with an exceptional track record, and who has an appetite for leadership and innovation.

We seek an exceptional candidate for this position, possessing the following essential knowledge and skills: a proven track record in major gift fundraising and/or management of key relationships within the specific donor constituency (internationally based high net-worth individuals, corporates or trusts & foundations respectively); a proven track record of securing major gifts/income; a demonstrable capacity to analyse, think critically, strategically and to innovate; a demonstrable ability to build empathetic relations with high net-worth individuals; outstanding negotiation and communication skills, credible across a variety of audiences; culturally sensitive; a strong natural drive to go out into the field; a successful track record of operating at a senior level with multiple stakeholders; and an ability to relate effectively to the academic community and its aims.

This role is based in central Cambridge.
