Francis House Children’s Hospice is looking for a Digital marketing officer to work across the organisation to deliver on Francis House’s digital and fundraising objectives.

This is the first in-house digital role at Francis House and the successful applicant will be expected to work on the design and implementation of an omnichannel digital strategy. The Digital marketing officer will be responsible for all digital content and proving the value of digital to senior management and trustees.


About Us

From its base in Didsbury, Manchester, Francis House Children’s Hospice provides a home from home where families receive professional care, support and friendship.  The hospice provides quality care to the families of children, teenagers and young adults with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.  The hospice supports more than 500 families from across the North West.

Respite care allows families a break from their normal routine.  It is an opportunity for young people and their families to meet and make new friends, enjoy using the fantastic facilities at the hospice, access the local amenities or just enjoy a period of rest and relaxation, catching up on much needed sleep.  In Francis House children are able to stay on their own or with their siblings/parents.  In Francis Lodge young people can stay on their own or with a sibling or friend of a similar age.

All services are given completely free of charge and include respite care, homecare, sibling support, end of life care and emotional and bereavement support.  It costs £4.7 million each year to continue to provide our services.


Key responsibilities and tasks

Day-to-day management of the website: Managing our website using the WordPress CMS, ensuring content is up to date and has a clear and consistent tone of voice. Ensuring content is optimised to drive web traffic accordingly. You will be responsible for reporting performance against agreed KPIs.

Social media: You will work with the fundraising and communications teams to create engaging content for social media, you will design and implement a social media strategy for the organisation.

Digital advertising – managing the charity’s Google Ads Grant account and ensuring compliance and a positive ROI.

Email marketing – plan and create engaging content and newsletters for hospice supporters.

Reporting – this is a new role in the charity, and you will be expected to report and evidence ROI to senior staff and trustees.  


Qualifications & Experience – Essential (E) and Desirable (D)

Degree level educated (E)

2+ years in a marketing / digital role (E) 

IDM / CIM certification (D)

Google Ads Certification (D)

Third-sector experience in a similar role (D)



Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills (E)

Excellent written communications skills across a variety of platforms (E)

Ability to work as part of a team (E)

Fantastic attention to detail, including the ability to proofread and edit copy effectively (E)

Google Analytics (E)

Experience of creating content for SEO (E)
