Director of Finance and Compliance
We are delighted to be recruiting a Director of Finance and Compliance for an innovative global centre which promotes and showcases Japan as a centre of Innovation and Creativity. Their location comprises of a theatre, exhibition space, Japanese restaurant and an expansive social retail space - offering visitors an immersive encounter with Japan. With over 350, 000 visitors since opening just over a year ago this unique partnership between Government and Japan's private sector is already creating a lasting legacy of engagement between the UK and Japan at individual, company and institutional levels.
Working closely with the President and Directors, the Director of Finance and Compliance will lead on Financial Administration and Reporting, Governance Compliance, Tax Compliance, Budget Forecasting and General Management. Leading a small team, this is an opportunity to build a new in-house finance function. Acting as company secretary you will be the point of communication between the Board of Directors and the organisation including taking responsibility for developing and overseeing governance and compliance systems and reporting in line with legal and statutory requirements.
The right person for this role will be a qualified finance professional with excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels. Persuasive whilst diplomatic you will have the ability to work collaboratively in a complex governance environment . With a business partnering approach to finance, you will be comfortable and adept at explaining complex financial information and procedures to non-finance people. Flexibility in approach will serve you well as you develop and adapt new systems and procedures in a maturing environment. With experience of developing and implementing governance and compliance systems procedures, the ideal candidate would also have some experience with XERO or another ERP System. With excellent written and spoken English, Japanese language skills would be an added advantage but not essential.
