Job Details

We are looking for someone with a passion for retail, horticulture and the drive to lead this exciting new development for our client, as Garden Centre Manager.

Position: Garden Centre Manager

Location: Central Bath

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Weekend working is a requirement of the role, and the flexibility to work occasional evenings, time off in lieu will be given)

Salary: £27000 - £30000

Contract: Permanent

Benefits: 25 days plus bank holidays

Our client is growing, with a recent property development and the expansion of many of their projects. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in the next stage of growth as they launch a new social enterprise in the heart of Bath. This new social enterprise will open as a garden centre in March 2020 and involves a 3-way collaboration with the council and a local horticultural charity. The new business will provide a sustainable income stream and supported work placements for their beneficiaries.

The Role

You will be part of a small and friendly team, making an immediate difference to the most vulnerable and marginalised in our community. The role of Manager will be to oversee and manage all aspects of the Urban Garden and deliver to agreed targets and outcomes within budget

About you

You will have a passion for horticulture and want to work for an organisation that strives to make a difference to people’s lives. As Manager you will bring to the role:

 

  • Experience of working in retail
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience of recruiting and managing employees
  • Experience of setting and delivering financial budgets
  • Detailed knowledge of plant selection and plant care
  • Demonstrable IT skills (including MS Office)
  • An enthusiasm for the charities work with disadvantaged and homeless adults
  • A Positive nature, ambitious, adaptable, and resourceful

 

Successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check and will be asked to undertake C-Me Profiling, a behaviour profiling Tool.

About the Organisation

Our client is a Bath-based charity running ten projects across the city to help relieve poverty and hardship for local people. They meet people’s basic needs, offer advice and support and provide longer-term opportunities.

You may also have experience in areas such as Garden Centre Manager, Garden Centre Supervisor, Store Manager, Store Supervisor, Horticulture.
