Job Details

Prospectus is delighted to be partnering with GambleAware to recruit their new Research Manager. GambleAware is an independent charity tasked to fund research, prevention and treatment services to help reduce gambling harms in Great Britain. The project and programme delivery framework is based on best practise and recognises the importance of robust project set up to ensure successful delivery throughout the life cycle. The research programme is making a key contribution to building the emerging international evidence base into gambling related harms, improving knowledge of what works in prevention, education and treatment.

Reporting to the Director of Research and Evaluation, key responsibilities will include developing proposals for commissioning research, utilising the expertise of internal colleagues, experts in research, evaluation, design and delivery, along with external partners. The successful candidate will establish and manage the evaluation process for research proposals and preparation of recommendations for the awarding of funds through internal governance procedures. You will agree project milestones, research outputs and key milestones with research teams, as well as manage a robust quality assurance process of research produced by commissioned teams. The successful candidate will coordinate and communicate with expert steering groups, facilitating the peer review process along with developing and maintaining effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including government policy makers, academics and researchers.

To be considered for this role, it is essential to have proven experience of designing, managing or commissioning complex research and evaluation projects using qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, with solid experience of building positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders. You are required to have knowledge of developing Theories of Change to provide a framework for robust project design and evaluation, ideally with an understanding of the range of research organisations working in the field of gambling harms. Knowledge of gambling and gambling harms or other relevant field is desirable. The placed candidate will have a postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.

Interviews will be taking place W/c 29th July.
