Heritage Lincolnshire operates from the Humber to the Wash across the historical county of Lincolnshire with the objective to advance the education of the public in all matters relating to Lincolnshire’s rich and diverse heritage and to preserve and investigate that heritage for the benefit of local people and visitors to the County.

Their vision is to ensure that the special character and significance of Lincolnshire’s heritage is understood, valued, conserved and celebrated for the benefit of local people, visitors and future generations. They do this through key themes of Heritage education and engagement; Archaeology; Heritage Led Regeneration.
The role
The charity is at a key stage of its development, with significant opportunity for growth. The Board of Trustees is looking for an experienced and innovative leader for the team of 35 staff and over 300 volunteers to take overall responsibility for planning, implementing and reviewing the strategic direction of the organisation, in line with best practice.
The regeneration of the Old King’s Head in Kirton as a café and B&B is a flagship project for the charity and is now fully funded for a planned opening in April 2020. This will become an important part of the Trust’s operations, which include a successful archaeological unit and a wide range of commercial and charitable activities.
The Trust has an excellent track record in conservation, archaeology, community engagement and education and this is an excellent opportunity to build on its achievements for the future.
The person
The new Chief Executive will be someone with the drive, initiative and enthusiasm to deliver the aims and objectives of their ambitious business plan.
To be successful in the role you will ideally have broad heritage knowledge with a good overview of the sector, combined with a business focussed and commercial approach to understand and action how to best capitalise on opportunities. Some commercial experience within your career would be an advantage.
You will need strong leadership skills and enjoy getting the best out of people - empowering them to develop both personally and within their areas of work. With the staff considered a real strength of the organisation, the Trustees are keen to ensure the new CEO maintains and develops the organisational culture and good values and reputation going forward.
You will develop and direct the Trusts fundraising strategy, so a good awareness of the funding landscape and bidding process is needed, plus the gravitas to liaise with key funders.
As an ambassador for the organisation, you will be responsible for networking, marketing and promoting the organisation and its activities and developing strong relationships with key partners and stakeholders.
