Trusts and Statutory Funding Team Manager

£50,000 + contributory pension, excellent holidays and other benefits

Based Birmingham

We’re the charity helping millions of people feel happier and healthier by spending more time on and along our canals and rivers. Our rich and tranquil spaces provide places to pause, relax and escape. But without extraordinary people, and the money to make it happen, all of this would be lost. Join us, as an experienced fundraising manager, and you can help us make sure life’s better by water by growing and diversifying income generation from statutory and voluntary funding sources.

About the role

Your job will be to maximise the income generated for the Trust through voluntary and statutory funding sources, including charitable and corporate trusts and foundations, major donors and the UK National Lottery. How? By developing an effective funding strategy and three-year business plan. By working closely with our Partner Engagement Team to ensure they meet their financial targets. And by seeking to optimise every funding opportunity and minimise every funding risk.

About you

This is an important and influential role which involves developing relationships with key funders, donors and external stakeholders, as well as policy and decision-makers across the UK and Europe. To this end, you must have significant experience of partnership working and of engaging with people at a senior, strategic level. You’ll also need a strong track record of setting departmental strategy and funding targets, and of managing project budgets worth around £5m a year or more. And, of course, you’ll have a proven ability to secure funding from a wide range of sources.

About us
We’re the charity who look after and bring to life 2,000 miles of canals and rivers. Our waterways contribute to the health and wellbeing of local communities and economies, creating attractive and connected places to live, work, volunteer and spend leisure time. These historic, natural and cultural assets form part of the strategic and local green-blue infrastructure network, linking urban and rural communities as well as habitats. Our waterways are on the doorstep of 8 million people and reach some of the most deprived communities within the UK. By caring for our waterways and promoting their use we believe we can improve the wellbeing of our nation.  Come and be part of it.

Company

No other charity brings so much free, open, and accessible blue and green space to the doorstep of so many. With your support, we can continue our work.

We are one of the UK’s biggest charities and we care for 2,000 miles of canals, rivers, docks and reservoirs because we believe life is better by water.

Along with our waterways we also manage museums, archives and the country’s third largest collection of historic buildings. These all enable us to offer wellbeing opportunities to millions of people each year.

Supporting this varied community who live, work and play on our canals means that we need an incredibly varied workforce. From engineers to ecologists, museum attendants to marketers, hundreds of people work at the Trust, all striving to make sure life is always better by the water.
