Here at the organisation, we’re recruiting a Head of Communications to work three days a week from Monday to Wednesday, as part of a full-time job share. This job share partnership will shape and lead a high profile, strategic and effective communications function to support ambitious fundraising targets, strengthen our reputation and maintain our engagement with colleagues and stakeholders.

We are looking for an experienced, forward thinking individual who can lead a busy and creative team. The right candidate will work seamlessly with a job share partner to maintain consistent direction, high quality delivery and strong team development while providing senior advice and leadership to the charity as a whole.

About the Team:

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Communications, this role leads a team of six, which comprises a four-strong Press Office function, a Family & Hospital Liaison Manager and an Internal Comms Manager. The team works closely with the charity’s brand marketing and digital engagement teams and with the communications team for the charity itself.

About you:

You will be an inspiring team leader with proven experience leading high profile and effective communication campaigns and managing a multi-functional team. You will have excellent media relations credentials, an eye for a story and a keen ability to assess and respond to reputational risk. You’re inquisitive and entrepreneurial, able to embrace new ideas and work closely with colleagues on digital opportunities. You’re a supportive but ambitious manager, keen to drive high performance for the charity and help your team to develop as individuals.
