Queen’s Park Community Council (in Westminster, W10) seeks a new Governance Director to lead our vibrant, diverse neighbourhood into the exciting next stage of its development. Queen’s Park has the only parish council in London and is a trailblazer for ultra-local democracy.

Our new Governance Director will have some experience of running an organisation such as a charity (or part of one), and a strong interest in democracy and civil society. The role is a unique and challenging opportunity in a mixed community of 14,000 people, including areas of high deprivation.

You will be an excellent communicator with emotional intelligence who functions as effectively in formal meetings as in ad hoc encounters with residents. You will manage the Community Development Officer and other part-time support staff; play a key role in supporting the 12 councillors; and develop the council’s networks within and beyond the local area.

As a successful applicant, you will be enthusiastic, practical and resilient. You will need experience of working in a governance role, with a clear understanding of local government including political, legal and financial aspects, and be capable of setting and monitoring budgets.

Applicants must be willing to achieve the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA).

If you are interested in this opportunity, please visit our website via the Apply button, to download the Job Description and Person Specification and to submit your CV.

Closing Date: 11 July 2019

Queen’s Park became the first ever Community Council in London in over 50 years, a non-political, democratically elected representative group of local residents established to improve the wellbeing of the local community. We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from a diverse audience and backgrounds.
