Care Support Worker
Every day, 12 children and young people in the UK hear the shocking news they have cancer. Our Client is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families, offering them care and support every step of the way. You can be a part of helping them live their life to the full.
Position: Care Support Worker
Location: Bristol, Avon
Job type: Part Time, Permanent
Hours: 28 hours per week
Salary: £19,954 per annum (FTE)
Closing Date: 5 July 2019

About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join and support their established Social Care Team providing services and support to children, teenagers and young adults with cancer. Their team includes Paediatric Social Workers, Social Workers for Young People and a Young Peoples Community Worker.
You will be expected to maintain a high standard of administration. To give practical and administrative assistance to the social care team and help the Social Workers to provide day to day support for service users and to plan and organise events and activities. You will have some contact with children, young people and families, completing registrations and grant applications, providing information and assistance with accessing appropriate services. You will help us to maintain their database and contribute to collecting and presenting data for reports and evaluations.
About you:
They are looking for a person who has had experience in an administrative post but also the confidence to meet with children and families when they may be experiencing great distress. You will need to be highly organised and efficient and have a good standard of literacy and numeracy and experience of working with children and families. Able to work independently and use your own initiative.
It is desirable that you have some experience of working in a hospital setting and that you have an understanding of the impact of cancer or serious illness.
All applicants should have excellent interpersonal skills.
